Internet Business Logic -- Start Page Help

You can use Internet Business Logic from pages like this one, the Start page. If you are a newcomer to the system, please look at the Tutorial Part 1.

Besides the Login page and this Start page, there are also pages called Question Menu, Answer, and Explanation. If you logged in with an author password, you will in addition see pages called Agent and Check. Each page has its own Help section.

The passwords for the demo ID are simply author and user.

Below the title at the top of the Start page, you will see an action that the system is suggesting to you, such as "Choose an Agent and Go to its Question Menu"

To do the suggested action click the Go button, or
- point to the suggested action, hold down the left mouse button, move the pointer down to a highlighted copy of the action, release the mouse button, then
- click elsewhere on the page
To do an action other than the suggested one
- point to the suggested action, hold down the left mouse button, move the pointer down to the desired action, then release the mouse button

The other IBL pages also have a suggested actions like these.

An IBL agent program is a collection of English rules and tables. You can ask an agent a question, and the IBL will use the agent like a program to sift through the data in the tables to find an answer for you.

You can use this Start page to

choose an existing agent, and go to its Question page, or to end your IBL session.

For the IBL, you have a user password, and also a different author password. If you logged in with your author password, you can in addition use this Start page to

go to an Agent page to view or change the rules and tables in an agent
go to a Check page, to view and make changes that IBL suggests
type in the name of a new agent that you wish to write, and get an Agent page with a template to start you off
save a copy of an agent under a new name that you type in.

A good way to get used to writing agents is to make a copy of an existing one,
and then to gradually make changes, while questioning the agent at each step.

For safety when making a copy of an agent, the the name you choose must really be new. That is, the system will not overwrite an existing agent. (If you want to overwrite an agent, first erase it, then make the copy.)
